Sara Storer

Storer is one of Australia’s most‐loved singer-songwriters, a multiple GoldenGuitar winner whose crisp observations of the Australian landscape and its people provide
the solid foundation stone for her music. Images of Australia burn through ‘Silos’ (her latest studio album) with all the clarity of an outback sunset, from Purple Cockies, with inspiration courtesy of John Williamson, whose latest album features a song inspired by Sara, to Amazing Night, about a night around the campfire, or Dandelions, where Sara sings about the “weather pulling on my heart like a string."

Storer has won 19 Golden Guitar awards, has been nominated for 6 Aria Awards, and has released a total of 6 studio albums, all of which reached the top 10 in the Country Music Charts, and two of them awarded Gold.

LEGEND & THE LOCALS 2017 aims to incorporate and support local talent in the following ways.

  • Engaging a promising QLD composer to create new work (orchestral sheet music for two of the Legends songs)
  • Connect with school/town orchestras, delivering orchestral sheet music a minimum six months prior to show. Supporting the in-school rehearsal process, and finally work-shopping the pieces during the ‘workshop’ day to ensure every participant feels confident to join the show.
  • LEGEND & THE LOCALS duet. The duet song is first chosen, and then locals apply to perform. The ‘Legend’ chooses the winner, who will then be supplied with the song, lyrics and music, and given one-on-one time with the ‘Legend’ to rehearse.
  • Local bands will be given the opportunity to apply to perform their own material or cover songs, in the role of first support act for the evening. For an opportunity to perform at this concert, there is a workshop Wednesday 4th October 2017. Phone 07 49 382 312 to register.
  • One talented local solo artist will have one on one workshop time with the Legend, either working on an original song, or collaborating on a song by the Legend. This solo artist will also have rehearsal time with the Legend before performing as part of the concert.
  • A special ‘interview with the Legend; will also be made to download as an MP3, which will then be available to audiences worldwide. This interview is the new LEGEND & THE LOCALS format for sharing industry knowledge. The Legend will talk about their personal history in the industry and will give tips on working successfully in it. Locals from all across Australia will be invited to pose particular questions for the Legend. The interview will be available to listen to through the Legend and the Locals website.
